Mom
The surgery was a success, but they were only able to clear one carotid. The other carotid and the two arteries following her spine were all 100% blocked and inoperable. The surgeon feels the one carotid will supply enough oxygen to her brain. We pray he is right.
Mom is doing great. She went back to her apartment by herself. My sister’s are rotating help with showers, but the woman is amazing! Her mind is clearer than it has been in a long time and as her incision heals, for now, she is better everyday.
God, thank you for giving our doctors the knowledge to help people. Modern medicine is fantastic!

My mom is in the hospital with a serious problem. She has cornmeal, butter, olive oil, and ice cream clogging her veins. Some doctor now has to open her neck up and clean BOTH carotid arteries out. I love her to pieces. Their is no one like mom in Georgia. She is one of a kind. I wouldn’t have her any other way. She loves my hubby.
I do not know what I would do without her. The doctors working on mom have a tough job ahead of them.
Only one person is allowed to stay with her or visit due to the virus protocols. My sisters are doing most of the running. Barry and I do not need to be out and around a hospital. We won’t be allowed in for her surgery. God will be guiding the doctor’ s hands, while we wait for news at home.

My old Neurologist decided to retire after several decades and I was assigned a new doctor. We visited for several hours yesterday and I am pleasantly pleased. Not only did he answer questions that have gone unanswered for ten+ years. He told me things I was not aware of. He told me things about my childhood, young adulthood and asked my hubby questions about things he has noticed since we met! Thank you, Dr. F!
I was aggravated at being here half a day, but the first time since visiting this University Hospital; I felt good leaving. Previous visits left me feeling like a lab rat. Testing different medications to control symptons, a video camera stuck in my mouth and down my throat to see what my body was actually doing and so many feeble and double moves while they made me walk. If I wasn’t dizzy when I got there, I was when leaving.
Good things keep happening! What is next…….Jill B.
Happy Easter one and All!
Ryder is our first rescue. She is part Jack Russell, part Brindle Boxer. When she jogs when happy, tongue out strutting along with a faint boxer “wag”. It looks like she is ‘shaking her hiney’. We were not sure to start, but she has turned into a lovable member of the family. Raising a puppy in an apartment is a challenge. We discovered over time that her previous home wasn’t a nice place for a rambunctious pup. She was guarded and withdrawn at times. She did a lot of hiding.
The moral of the story is that she has turned into the sassy, sweetest little pup on earth. Of course, this is six years later.

She loves cartoons
I apologize for my lack of content, over the years. My mood is better and my health allows Barry and I to venture out further. I do well walking at home, but when in public I usually choose a mode of transport with wheels and escort (someone to push).
The worst incident at home landed us at the orthopedic doc, which led to an MRI and surgery. My left knee was jacked up (as one doctor put it). As you may remember brain surgery left weakness and control problems with my left leg and arm. I could get around, but with a lot of pain.
History was changed on January 30th of this year. My doctor is an angel. My knee is painful from the surgery, but my left foot/leg works the way they should. I still have balance issues, but my leg and foot stay straight. I no longer look like a wounded ostrich trying to get around. No more three foot stances to be able to walk. I pray every night thanking the Good Lord for giving my doctor the knowledge to take care of my knee.
Physical therapy is going well. My therapist, Meg is tickled with my enthusiasm. She works you HARD!!! After what Barry and I have dealt with since 2009, you cannot believe how good it feels to have something positive come out of a hospital.
Thank you for reading my joy!! More to come….
Jill B.
