Assume the position!!!!! :-) :-) :-) :-)
By the title, I can say, I don’t mean what you think. I’m referring to the position Barry had to assume to dry his pants in the Walmart bathroom.
Barry was being a sweety helping me find a cart a Walmart. The area the carts are stored in is dark. As usual, the staff at the local Walmart, had failed to plugin anything to recharge.
On top of that, the second cart he tried had a wet seat. Poor Barry sat down in it. We stopped by after church, so he was in his Sunday clothes. We went to the family restroom, where we attempted to clean him up as much as possible.
We discovered the seat was wet because someone had urinated or had a diaper leak in the seat. As Barry squatted in front of the hand dryer, it became more and more evident exactly what he sat in. He looked like he was trying to do some form of ‘booty dance’. It was funny, but it wasn’t, ya know! I felt so bad for him…….
Barry went to the car and got out of his pants, covered up with a blanket and waited while I picked up mom’s meds and a few groceries.
You should have seen Barry running in the house with his pants in his hands when we arrived home.
Walmart not only does not plug the carts up to recharge, apparently they do not clean them after someone urinates in the seat.
I go to Walmart to shop, because of these carts. I cannot walk more than 200 feet without needing to sit down. It troubles me, that I cannot trust the carts to be somewhat sanitary. I cannot get sick. I clean the handles and wipe the seat before I shop, but this one was in a dark area and the seat was nasty.
What is a disabled person to do? If stores are going to provide these carts, they should take care of them.
Then on the other hand, as customers, we need to plug them up if we can and let them know if one is dirty.
What is happening in this world? We used to care about each other. This world needs to change. Badly……
The “New” Barry is at it again!
Barry went to Kroger alone this afternoon. While at the store, he was to pick up items to make fresh salsa for tomorrow night.
My adorable, little husband gets a bunch of fresh cilantro and a sprig falls off as he bags it. Instead of tossing it in the garbage, he puts it behind his ear and continues his shopping. He said he had everyone pointing at him and giggling like school kids.
He said the clerk checking him out, asked between giggles, if he was aware he had something behind his ear?
He smiled, stated, “Why, yes ma’am, I do. I’m hoping my wife will mistake it for mistletoe.” and walked out with his purchase. He said he looked back and she was laughing uncontrollably.
My husband minus his filter, you gotta love him!

I have always taken this one to mean ‘follow what you love’. You cannot be happy in life, if you do not enjoy what you do. When my niece and nephews would ask me questions about what to do with their lives, I’ve told them to figure out what they love and go for it. If they choose right, they’ll shine. If not, keep looking until they find what makes them happy. One nephew is a pastor, this choice suits him perfectly. His twin brother is an artist and professional ballroom dancer, he has been showing his creative side since he was five years old. Their sister, is the perfect mother, wife and homemaker. She plans to homeschool her kids, which will be a breeze for her. My sister did a fabulous job with her kids. Of course, my brother-in-law is included in this praise.

I continue with this quote with my younger nephews, who are still young enough to be figuring out who they are and what they want to be. They are both sweet, loving boys; but with totally different personsalities. I’m enjoying watching them grow into handsome young men and I encourage them to be themselves regularly. They will eventually figure out who they are and where they are headed in life. My younger sister is doing a wonderful job with her boys. She is a great mom with many challenges, but they are getting there. Of course, my brother-in-law is included in this praise.
I attempt to apply this one to myself daily. I learned early in life that I am a caregiver. I went to nursing school and worked for over 25 years before we had to close our business. I continue to be a caring, loving individual I have always been. I receive phone calls for medical advice regularly and do my best to give accurate, fabulous advice because I wouldn’t want to steer anyone in the wrong direction.
Even though I may not be actively working, I take care of my mother, my husband and myself daily. Sometimes it isn’t easy to be, the one person in the house, with the best memory. Making all the decisions can be a bit tedious at times. Barry has been in management for over 30 years, he isn’t the easiest person in the world to take being told what to do or how to do something. I am trying every avenue I know to figure out how to work with Barry. I don’t want to argue with him daily when he retires. I have to remember that Barry is only being who he is and that is his priviledge!

Okay, let me see if I can come up with seven interesting things about me.
- I love gardening and flowers, but it is extremely difficult to manage my garden since I had brain surgery. My adorable husband built a little padded seat, low seat, so that I can scoot around on my fanny and still enjoy one of my favorite things in this world.
- I really, really hate ironing: Goosey, if you do not mind, I’m gonna leave this one with a big DITTO! But I could care less if something is ironed or not, as long as I am tidy and presentable. I hate hanging up laundry and folding it. I could wash clothes all day, but do not ask me to put it up!!
- I am a nurse and I’m good at it! I miss working!
- We have tickets for a zip-line tour coming up soon!
- I wish I could still sing.
- I have the most wonderful man on earth for a husband. Ladies, he’s mine and no one else can have him!
- I have a brain tumor that cannot be fully removed that is a symptom of this crazy genetic disorder that allows my body to be prone to form tumors, benign and cancerous!

- HopeforHeather: this blog lead me to a special person that I have become friends with. The internet actually brought the two of us together. When I was doing a search for updated info on the rare brain tumor and genetic disease we share, I discovered BrainTumorThursday and a write-up by this blogger. Heather has been a great teacher, confidant and shoulder to cry on. I hate an illness brought us together, but it is incredible to be able to talk to someone about what this disease is doing to our bodies. This blog is also extremely informative about the disease and resources on and offline to help.
- Beatingcowdens: this blog is about a mother and daughter dealing with the same struggles Heather and I deal with due to Cowden’s Syndrome. They are a very uplifting and energetic duo. It is a pleasure to read about a mother and daughter being so close. Their blog is very inspiring.
- GooseyAnne: this blog is well written and extremely entertaining. My hubby even enjoys a giggle with me over Ms. Goosey’s comments. I smile every time I see a comment from this blog and it is always a joy to reading her posts. Very entertaining. I am enjoying getting to know her.
- heartflow2012: very enlightening blog, full of information. The writer is full of inspiration and encouragement. Very sweet!
- didiearnasmile: blog is about the daily trials and struggles a mom and her autistic son muddle through daily. They do a fabulous job together! Very inspiring!
- Writersite.org: this blogger makes me think and brings back pleasant memories I thought I had lost. She is super supporter and avid commenter. Very sweet lady. Her blog is inspiring and very informative.

Update…..
For those of you that have followed my post the past few weeks, you know I haven’t been feeling well. We got an explanation today that we truly were not expecting.
In 25 years of experience as a nurse, I never pictured being on this end of a conversation. Apparently, I am in the early stages of kidney failure.
I have been the person consoling someone, when they get bad news, but I have never been the person needing the consoling. It was not a pleasant seat to be in.
We are hoping they have caught it in time and that something can be done.
Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. This has really bummed us out, we’re trying to stay positive.

Letting things go…..
Can anyone out there tell me how to do this?
The bible says to give it to God and not to worry.
There are certain things in life that are radically difficult to just put aside and not worry about.
- Friends, eh, you learn who your true friends are when times get tough.
- Family will always be family, no matter how much worry they cause, they are family. You love them anyway.
- A brain tumor diagnosis, a stroke, cancer diagnosis, any life threatening illness that could lead to a major life change…
How do you not worry about things like that?
I do my best to give things to God, but I feel like I struggle daily with this issue. I pray and ask the Lord to strengthen my will and give me the knowledge I need to be able to understand how and be able to turn things totally over to him.
Hopefully the stronger my faith and knowledge about Christ and the bible, will help me find the peace I feel like I am looking for. My support system worries as much as I do.
God, help Barry and I figure out how to give it all over to you. We are your students……
