Happy New Year everyone! Here are awards 4, 5 and a second star to start my new year off right

I am overcome with emotion over everyone’s kindness and consideration in thinking of me when nominating blogs for awards. I am tickled pink that you think my blog is worthy of an award. I am combining these last few, but I’ll try to make sure I have all the rules and such as they should be. I’m enjoying discovering new blogs as I research wordpress for recipients. A special thanks to http://randomuzings.wordpress.com/ for nominating me! You are a doll!

The first two awards have similiar requirements.

nominated by lucewriter/writersite.org

http://writersite.org/Lucewriter is one of the sweetest bloggers on wordpress and just an incredibly nice, inspiring and supportive young lady. On many occasions, she has lifted my spirits with her comments and suggestions. Her post are well put together, witty, and work on my memory at times. I have trouble with my long-term memory, and her posts bring back some childhood memories. I was thrilled to learn that writersite/Lucewriter had nominated me for the Super Sweet Blogging Award.

To earn my treat, I need to answer some questions:

  1. Cookies or Cake? Cookie, of course. There is nothing like fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies fresh out of the oven. German Chocolate Cake would be my cake of choice. They are both just YUMMY!
  2. Chocolate or Vanilla? I must admit chocolate is my friend, but a love french vanilla in my coffee.
  3. Favorite sweet treat? Tiramisu (sp).
  4. When do you crave sweet things the most? Ummmmm, I have to watch my waistline, so sweets are a treat. There are always those stressful moments, when nothing will do the trick, but a sweet treat!
  5. If you had a sweet nickname, what would it be? Sugar Cookie: plain and simple, nothing fancy.

The last requirement for receiving the Super Sweet Blogging Award is to name a baker’s dozen (13) of my favorite bloggers (note: these are just a few of my favorites).

  1.  Back at you, Luanne……http://writersite.org/
  2. HopeforHeather…http://hopeforheather.wordpress.com/

My third blogging award….Wow, I love it…..!!!!!!

I’m too pooped to finish writing this one up tonight, but I promise to have it posted before the new year. I actually received nominations for several awards today. I’ll start working on all that tomorrow. Again, it has been a big day, and I’m too pooped to type. I wanna sleep in the bed tonight, not under it. Sweet dreams all……

This is just so sweet….

The Bottom of a Bottle

As the end of the year slowly creeps up and I will face the last of my Festive Tests, Test No 4. New Year’s Eve, I haven’t got a clue what I will be doing this time tomorrow evening or where I will be, probably in exactly the same place as I am now, at the keyboard typing out yet another post.

One thing I do know is I won’t be drinking anything other than Pepsi Max or Lime n Soda, the SoberDay count will stand at 276 days tonight and I will see in the New Year with 277 SoberDays, I may celebrate alone and it will not be the first time, but the difference will be this year is that I know I will never be truly alone, just because my eyes don’t see, my heart believes.

I have drafted a number of poems over the last few weeks…

My second blogging award!

versatileblogger

Wow! Goosey of gooseyanne nominated us for The Versatile Blogger Award. I am truly honored to receive this nomination from such a sparkling and talented blogger. Not only with words, but artwork as well. Now back on task, I wish to sincerely thank her for this honor. Of course there are here are rules to accepting this award. These are as follows:

  • Post 7 interesting things about yourself

Okay, let me see if I can come up with seven interesting things about me.

  1. I love gardening and flowers, but it is extremely difficult to manage my garden since I had brain surgery. My adorable husband built a little padded seat,      low seat, so that I can scoot around on my fanny and still enjoy one of my      favorite things in this world.
  2. I really, really hate ironing: Goosey, if you do not mind, I’m gonna leave this one with a big DITTO! But I could care less if something is ironed or not, as long as I am tidy and presentable. I hate hanging up laundry and folding it. I could wash clothes all day, but do not ask me to put it up!!
  3. I am a nurse and I’m good at it! I miss working!
  4. We have tickets for a zip-line tour coming up soon!
  5. I wish I could still sing.
  6. I have the most wonderful man on earth for a husband. Ladies, he’s mine and no one else can have him!
  7. I have a brain tumor that cannot be fully removed that is a symptom of this crazy genetic disorder that allows my body to be prone to form  tumors, benign and cancerous!

Now to my nominations:-

  1. First has to be back to Goosey, since she had enough faith in me to nominate my blog, Thank you! I’m practicing for our race.http://gooseyanne.wordpress.com/2012/12/02/the-cats-get-a-word-in/

My list has no order, rhyme or reason. If I have forgotten anyone, please forgive me! Congratulations and thanks again, Goosey!

My first blogging award! Thank you!

It is a pleasure to receive an award for something that I enjoy so much. Being honored with my first blog award and having the pleasure to be able to pass the award on to blogs I enjoy in many ways; I laugh, I am inspired to keep writing and encouraged to enjoy life one day at a time. Follow God and let him guide you in the right direction. Give your worries to the Lord. He will take care of you!

If I have missed anyone, please forgive me. In my opinion, everyone on here deserves an award! I find inspiration, encouragement and laughter in each blog I have a chance to read daily. It helps me make it through the day.

I’d like to send special thanks and support out to, Wayne: http://thebottomofabottle.wordpress.com. You inspire me to keep going daily; you exhibit such strength in your writing. Makes me want to keep going! Thank you for the nomination

  1. HopeforHeather: this blog lead me to a special person that I have become friends with. The internet actually brought the two of us together. When I was doing a search for updated info on the rare brain tumor and genetic disease we share, I discovered BrainTumorThursday and a write-up by this blogger. Heather has been a great teacher, confidant and shoulder to cry on. I hate an illness brought us together, but it is incredible to be able to talk to someone about what this disease is doing to our bodies. This blog is also extremely informative about the disease and resources on and offline to help.
  2. Beatingcowdens: this blog is about a mother and daughter dealing with the same struggles Heather and I deal with due to Cowden’s Syndrome. They are a very uplifting and energetic duo. It is a pleasure to read about a mother and daughter being so close. Their blog is very inspiring.
  3. GooseyAnne: this blog is well written and extremely entertaining. My hubby even enjoys a giggle with me over Ms. Goosey’s comments. I smile every time I see a comment from this blog and it is always a joy to reading her posts. Very entertaining. I am enjoying getting to know her.
  4. heartflow2012: very enlightening blog, full of information. The writer is full of inspiration and encouragement. Very sweet!
  5. didiearnasmile: blog is about the daily trials and struggles a mom and her autistic son muddle through daily. They do a fabulous job together! Very inspiring!
  6. Writersite.org: this blogger makes me think and brings back pleasant memories I thought I had lost. She is super supporter and avid commenter. Very sweet lady. Her blog is inspiring and very informative.
  7. Hownottokillyourparents: this blog hits home. We share many experiences. I feel at times like I am now raising my mother and having her in my home can be challenging. It feels good to know Barry and I are not out there alone. The bloggers posts are well written and entertaining.
  8. Randomuzings: very supportive blogger. Very entertaining. Very nice man
  9. thebottomofabottle: This blogger loads his blog with so many topics and posts. He is very dedicated and enjoys writing. He is very a inspiring blogger and sweet young man. His comments are always thoughtful and inspiring.

6. As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…

.

Yes – that’s right – there are stars to collect!

Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once – this award is different!

Which means that you can check out your favorite blogs – and even if they have already been given the award by someone else – you can still bestow it on them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars!

When you begin you will receive the ‘1 star’ award – and every time you are given the award by another blog – you can add another star!

There are a total of 6 stars to collect.

You will find all of the info plus the Awards with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 stars upon them here. If you have any questions about how to post the banner on your WordPress blog go to your widgets, apply your Blog of the Year 2012 logo with the correct amount of stars on it to your sidebar. Simple.

Now, my magic number is nine; there is no order to my list, I stuck to nine blogs because I was too tired to pick the tenth one. Work hard folks and just maybe you’ll be able to grab all 6 stars. GoodLuck!! Thank you for being you!

Update…..

For those of you that have followed my post the past few weeks, you know I haven’t been feeling well. We got an explanation today that we truly were not expecting.

In 25 years of experience as a nurse, I never pictured being on this end of a conversation. Apparently, I am in the early stages of kidney failure.

I have been the person consoling someone, when they get bad news, but I have never been the person needing the consoling. It was not a pleasant seat to be in.

We are hoping they have caught it in time and that something can be done.

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. This has really bummed us out, we’re trying to stay positive.

Thank you all for letting me ramble!

Letting things go…..

Can anyone out there tell me how to do this?

The bible says to give it to God and not to worry.

There are certain things in life that are radically difficult to just put aside and not worry about.

  • Friends, eh, you learn who your true friends are when times get tough.
  • Family will always be family, no matter how much worry they cause, they are family. You love them anyway.
  • A brain tumor diagnosis, a stroke, cancer diagnosis, any life threatening illness that could lead to a major life change…

How do you not worry about things like that?

I do my best to give things to God, but I feel like I struggle daily with this issue. I pray and ask the Lord to strengthen my will and give me the knowledge I need to be able to understand how and be able to turn things totally over to him.

Hopefully the stronger my faith and knowledge about Christ and the bible, will help me find the peace I feel like I am looking for. My support system worries as much as I do.

God, help Barry and I figure out how to give it all over to you. We are your students……

Why?

When I first had brain surgery, my family and friends were incredibly supportive, until I started getting better and it was becoming obvious that I was disabled.

Most of my family has been behind me through everything. Others have had trouble dealing with the “New Me”.  I had trouble dealing with it for a while. I think I cried for 2 years at some part after the surgery.

Slowly, one by one “so-called friends” quit calling. My family changed slower. Mom, God bless her, still looks at me today as if it will be the last time she ever sees me. We have had a few rough moments, but she is still hanging in there with me.

Another relative has chosen to act like I don’t exist. I wish I could figure out how to settle this with them, but nothing seems to work. They claim there attitude toward me has not changed, when it so obviously has.

They do not call like they used too, when I call they act annoyed and are extremely short on the phone, When we are around each other, they are snappy and act annoyed when they cannot understand my voice, something I cannot help.

I am just at a loss. Everyone else is absolutely wonderful, and to my knowledge, other than have brain surgery, I’ve done nothing.

I know I am not the one with the problem and I pray for them regularly. Am I asking for the right things when I pray? Am I praying correctly? Should I approach this person and talk it out or pray with them?

What is it that makes people do this? I’m still me. The old me is in this body screaming to get out. I hate the way I am. But I can’t do anything about it. I just do not know.

To my family that has been fabulous, THANK YOU! I love all of you, dearly! Even the one having trouble. We are family. To my husband, my love, my soul-mate, DOUBLE THANK YOU WITH KISSES ON TOP! I would not be here if it weren’t for you!!!!!!
